The road, phase by phase

  1. Phase 1: Choosing Sport and Joining Club

    1–2 months

Trying a few sports, picking one that fits your body and interest, and joining a club, team or coach rather than training alone. By the end you have a regular training slot and a coach assessing you.

You're done when you can show

A club membership card or registration confirmation with your coach's name.

    Resources

  2. Phase 2: Grinding Daily Fundamentals

    4–8 months

Showing up to structured sessions several times a week to learn core technique, build base fitness and fix basic habits like sleep and nutrition. You produce a training log and measurable baseline numbers such as times, lifts or skill tests.

You're done when you can show

A training log showing 12+ consistent weeks with improved baseline test results.

    Resources

  3. Phase 3: Entering First Local Competitions

    3–6 months

Registering for local or club-level events, learning rules, warm-up routines and handling competition nerves. You prove you can compete legally and finish, and you collect real results to compare against the field.

You're done when you can show

Official results listing showing your name in at least three sanctioned local events.

    Resources

  4. Phase 4: Following Periodized Competition Training

    1–2 years

Training on a structured season plan built around target events, with peaking, tapering and recovery blocks, while analyzing results and video to fix weaknesses. You produce consistent personal bests and placings that meet regional qualifying standards.

You're done when you can show

A ranking or results page showing a regional qualifying mark or podium finish.

    Resources

  5. Phase 5: Competing At Regional National Level

    2–4 years

Traveling to higher-tier championships, managing competition calendar, recovery and finances, and possibly seeking sponsorship or team selection. You prove you belong among ranked competitors at state or national level.

You're done when you can show

A national or regional federation ranking listing your name and result.
