The road, phase by phase

  1. Phase 1: Diagnosing Current Band Level

    1 week

Take a full timed IELTS practice test (Academic or General Training, matching your purpose) and get the writing and speaking scored by a teacher or reliable rubric. Identify your target band and the gap per skill.

You're done when you can show

A scored diagnostic test sheet showing band per skill and target band.

    Resources

  2. Phase 2: Rebuilding Core Language Foundations

    1–3 months

Daily work on grammar accuracy, academic vocabulary, and pronunciation through structured study, spaced-repetition flashcards, and extensive reading and listening. Ends with fewer recurring errors and a solid word bank.

You're done when you can show

A flashcard deck export or error log showing 1,000+ reviewed words and corrected grammar patterns.

    Resources

  3. Phase 3: Drilling Task-specific Strategies

    1–2 months

Shift from general English to IELTS question types: practicing each reading and listening question format, writing Task 1 and Task 2 essays to templates, and recording Speaking Parts 1–3 answers. Get feedback on writing and speaking against band descriptors.

You're done when you can show

A folder of 15+ feedback-marked essays and recorded speaking answers.

    Resources

  4. Phase 4: Sitting Full Timed Mocks

    3–6 weeks

Complete full-length mock exams under real timing conditions weekly, reviewing every mistake and patching weak sections. Prove you consistently score at or above your target band.

You're done when you can show

Scores from three consecutive full mocks at or above target band.
