The road, phase by phase

  1. Phase 1: Publishing Experimental Content Weekly

    2–3 months

Picking one or two platforms and posting on a fixed schedule across several topics and formats to learn the tools and discover what you enjoy making. By the end you have a body of published work and a sense of which niche and format fit you.

You're done when you can show

A channel or profile link showing 20+ published pieces posted over consecutive weeks.

  2. Phase 2: Narrowing Niche and Format

    3–6 months

Stopping the scattershot posting and committing to one niche, one core format and a recognizable style. You study your analytics and competitors and iterate on hooks, thumbnails and structure to find what retains viewers.

You're done when you can show

Analytics screenshot showing a repeatable format with retention or engagement above your early baseline.

    Resources

  3. Phase 3: Growing an Engaged Audience

    6–12 months

Scaling output of the proven format, collaborating with peers, repurposing across platforms and replying to your community. You stop tinkering with what to make and focus on volume, consistency and distribution until growth compounds.

You're done when you can show

Profile link showing a sustained follower milestone (e.g. 10k) with steady monthly growth.

    Resources

  4. Phase 4: Building Multiple Revenue Streams

    6–12 months

Turning attention into income through platform monetization, brand sponsorships, affiliate links and your own products or memberships. You pitch brands, create a media kit, set rates and track earnings against your time.

You're done when you can show

Media kit plus income records showing several months of creator revenue from multiple sources.

    Resources

  5. Phase 5: Running a Sustainable Content Business

    Ongoing

Transitioning to full-time by systematizing production, delegating editing or management, and owning direct channels like an email list. You operate as a business with budgets, contracts and a reliable publishing pipeline that doesn't depend on you doing everything.

You're done when you can show

Business financials showing creator income covering living costs for 6+ consecutive months.
